Louis Vuitton is stepping into the future of footwear manufacturing with a 3D-printed sneaker made by the leader in 3D-printed footwear technology – Zellerfeld.
Earlier today, the French luxury brand debuted the shoe, the LV Cobra, on the runway of Pharrell William’s 2024 show in Hong Kong. The shoe was first leaked last night by some of Pharrell’s closest friends and collaborators including legendary artists KAWS and Pusha T.
The slip-on style shoe is one similar to many other 3D-printed projects by Zellerfeld, but stand out with unmistakable and iconic Louis Vuitton branding.
While the shoe looks mostly smooth on the upper, the pair incorporates texture printing that also bring a soft mesh to the shoe for comfort that Zellerfeld uniquely delivers to the 3D-printed space.
Mathias Patillon, Louis Vuitton’s head of footwear design, posted an image of the Cobra on Instagram and tagged Zellerfeld and mentions Z FOAM in the caption. Thibault Lemaire, Louis Vuitton’s head of innovation, posted a story on Instagram resharing Mathias Patillon’s post tagging Zellerfeld’s co-founder and CEO Cornelius Schmitt and added “Amazing project with an amazing team!”
We spoke to Cornelius Schmitt by phone, who was in Hong Kong, to confirm whether or not Zellerfeld made the shoes for Louis Vuitton. A chuckle was followed by a brief pause before he delivered the following:
“I am not at liberty to confirm or deny that Zellerfeld, the most innovative 3D shoe company, worked with Louis Vuitton, the most impactful and significant luxury brand in the history of mankind.”
There are no release or pricing details available at the moment for the LV Cobra, but we’ll keep you updated with new details as they’re announced.
