For this murdered-out pack of three, Nike contracted internationally distinguished textile trader, Maharam. Maharam’s clientele is largely comprised of architects and interior designers. This collection, however, displays that the firm is quite capable of pairing premium fabrics with footwear. The Maharam for Nike Collection possesses two make-ups of the Blazer Hi and one make-up of the Oregon Waffle. Each shoe is covered in horsehair yet the textural finish on each of them is apart from any previous Nike horsehair products. This discrepancy is a result of Maharam’s decision to weave the horsehair. Each shoe boasts its own weave: basket and check for each one of the Blazers and striae for the Oregon Waffle. Michael Maharam states his aspiration for the collection is to achieve “restrained opulence.” The Maharam for Nike Collection is now available at 21 Mercer and other select Nike Sportswear retailers for $250 per pair. |
