We all know tomorrow, January 20th, 2009, marks the official inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama’s campaign. Over the past year, we have seen a lot of Obama-inspired sneakers and gear such as the NBA players Obama kicks, the Virtual Mo x Nike iD Dunk Low ???Mo-Bama???, Air Obama T-shirts and now this MiBlox Barack. However, this sneaker raises a few questions.
Is this enough Barack branding already? He has not even stepped in office for one day, yet, brands are increasing and implementing more pressure with every passing Obama-inspired accessory. Is this oversaturation? Just like every other Barack-inspired sneaker, the MiBlox features a red, white and blue upper with a few Obama features. For example, Obama’s face is imprinted, rather largely, on the tongue. Two other features are Barack’s infamous three-word phrase, “Yes we can”, seen on the toe box and his full name split between both sneakers’ toe caps. Via MiBlox. |
