“Money, it’s gotta be the shoes!” Spike Lee knew what he was talking about back in 1990, calling his commercial co-star straight cash. Today, Forbes reports that Michael Jordan is officially a billionaire. This breakthrough comes on the heels of MJ increasing his stake in the Hornets.
While MJ’s ownership of the Hornets certainly helps his bank statement, fans keeping up with Michael Jordan’s business moves and account balance know sneaker sales are still bringing in the dough. Earlier this year, Forbes reported that in 2013 alone MJ made $90 Million off his Jordan Brand partnership with Nike, outselling the likes of LeBron James and Derrick Rose.
Congrats to MJ on joining the billionaire’s club.
