Debut of Air Jordan Line

In 1984, Nike had a decision to make: choose a generational type of talent to help boost their profile. During that time Nike had its fair share of basketball talent, but still remained to many strictly a “running shoe” company. So, in comes noted basketball “broker” Sonny Vaccaro who helps lead the charge and elevate the hoops department within Nike.

During the aforementioned 1984, with the help of Vaccaro, Nike signed Michael Jordan to a lucrative endorsement deal with the promise of creating his very own signature line. By 1985, with the help of designer Peter Moore the Air Jordan 1 was created and would re-write the course of history for the next three decades and counting.
