Retros, re-retros and restocks may have diminished the luster of the “Playoff” Air Jordan 11s for some, but at the end of the day, these shoes still rank among the best basketball kicks ever created. Why? Well, Tinker’s daring design and Chicago’s sick pinstripe jerseys certainly play to that, but at the end of the day it’s what MJ did in the “Playoffs” that elevates the model to legend status.

What Michael Jordan did in that shoe was win his fourth NBA Championship. Coming off a surprise comeback and his first early postseason exit in years, Mike and company tightened up the next season to go 72-10, later knocking off the Seattle Supersonics in the Finals. In Game 3 of the series, Mike laced up the “Playoff” 11s to drop 36 points and gain a 3-0 edge over the Sonics. That very pair of “Playoff” 11s from Game 3 just sold on Grey Flannel Auctions in autographed, game-worn fashion for $17,126. For reference, the Air Jordan 12s from the infamous “Flu Game” sold for $104,765. Congrats to the winners of both auctions on scoring these truly iconic collectibles.
