words // Darren Griffin:

In the time before Michael Jordan made history in the iconic Air Jordan 1 in 1985, the rookie from North Carolina was doing work in, well, just a good old pair of Nike Airs. During that short stint in which he was without a signature line, Los Angeles Lakers ball boy Khalid Ali secured a pair of game-worn sneakers autographed by Jordan, which have now passed the rigorous authentication process and remain in mint condition. Experts estimate the pair could be worth upwards to, or more than, $50,000 as said and done. If you remember, back in 2013 an original pair of Air Jordan 1s went for more than $30,000, so this price really isn’t that extreme considering past values.

The two and a half week auction will take place on spcauctions.com, and will end on April 25.
