Matt Halfhill knows his shoes.
The founder and publisher of Nice Kicks lives and breathes shoes on a daily basis. Therefore, conversations with him about sneakers are filled with his exuberance about the topic and are pleasantly endless.
When asked what shoe stands out as his personal favorite, he remains loyal to the answer he truthfully believes: “It hasn’t been created yet.” However, that doesn’t mean he’s not enthused by the innovative silhouettes, collaborations and new styles that release every month. To coincide with the release of the Nice Kicks x Vans Vault “The Duel,” his fifth sneaker collaboration, we caught up with Matt to find out what kicks make up his five-sneaker rotation. As expected, this installment of My 5 is full of versatility.
New Balance 1300 CL “Steel Blue”
Matt Halfhill: “The 1300 is an amazingly comfortable shoe, and it has a ridiculous level of quality; and oh yeah, it’s made in America for $130. How could I not support jobs here in America with some of my footwear choices? It’s a no-brainer. It’s probably my favorite New Balance shoe of all time.”
