The term ‘golden era’ gets thrown around a lot in both hip-hop and sneaker culture, but let’s just agree it’s a pretty stellar time for West Coast rap and shoe releases. Caught in the middle of both is Vince Staples. Much like his peers, Vince has an appreciation for the classics, but a sound and a style that’s far from dated. Currently on the road with ScHoolboy Q, we caught up with Vince to hear what’s in his current My 5.

Vince Staples: “Only the CDPs, not the 2012 ones. [They’re] too different. I had the CDP 4s and I got the 2012s, but they just went a different lane with it. The CDP 4s are timeless. They’re a little thinner around the ankle, a little slimmer, just a better look overall.”
