As sneakerheads, we are apprehensive to make appearances at any and all of the sneaker swamp meets that we can. These gatherings provide us with the opportunity to catch a physical glimpse of shoes that we have long admired and chased via blogs and online retailers. And we can’t front, we all like to stunt on everybody else with our own heat. Beyond kicks, these events insert us ‘heads into a familiar arena where we can easily communicate with strangers. Oftentimes these kicks conversations transcend the “What’s your favorite Jordan?” debate and develop into friendships. In these situations, what we, at times, sheepishly admit as a “material habit” ends up fostering a significant intangible, camaraderie. The NC Sneaker Summit was not short of heat or camaraderie. Carolina kicks cognoscenti and purveyors convened to chef up a live event. There were so many revered kicks within the venue that the event’s heat density was enviable.
