For many years there has been plenty of intrigue regarding the numerical system of the New Balance line. With a variety of silhouettes incorporating various digits within their name, the storied footwear brand has finally given fans a breakdown of their numerical system. In an extensive interview with size?, New Balance explains that each silhouette receives and 6-7 digit code that builds upon 3 specifics: Gender, Model Number and Colorway. For instance, any model intended for Men, receives a “M” at the beginning of the numerical code and vise versa for a WMNS model that would subsequently receive a “W” at the beginning of its code.
