Wanna get away? As cold climates cover the majority of North America (even Texas), the Nice Kicks x New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” offers a vacation for your feet. Inspired by the beach Nice Kicks Founder & Publisher Matt Halfhill called home during his teenage years, this Caribbean colorway draws from the scenic and cultural beauty of Grenada. The shoe itself tells a story, but the details do the talking.
Beachy blue hues of aqua and royal tag the pig suede upper, contrasted by mesh paneling around the collar and on the toe box. Subtle 3M underlays, only visible with flash, prove a first for any New Balance release on this NK collab. The 3M festivities continue on the tongue and laces, with a wavy blue translucent sole cooling off the retro runner.
New Balance fans in Austin, TX will have the first shot at scoring a pair of the “Grand Anse” 1600s. The shoes will release in-store at the Nice Kicks Shop on March 14th for $175, with a limit of two pairs per customer. In addition to the sneakers, collaborative accessories will also launch. Sol Republic headphones (limited to 50 pairs) will release for $150, while Look/See sunglasses (limited to 100 pairs) will launch for $60. Refreshments at the event for those 21 and over will be provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Cayrum. The remaining pairs of the Nice Kicks x New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” will drop online at shopnicekick.com on March 15th at 11 AM EST.
