2018 won’t be remembered as the year that Queens native and BMX pro Nigel Sylvester broke out. Sure, thanks to his stylishly scuffed Air Jordan 1 collaboration many have discovered Sylvester for the first time. Yet, by in large his style and skill in various genres are common knowledge to most. The former, coupled with his New York City roots, cleverly inform his upcoming Nike Air Force 1 exclusive.

Alongside NIKEiD, Nigel has created NYC focused Air Force 1 Lows that lean into the city and the shoes cultural presence in the ’80s and ’90s. With flavorful iterations in patent leather, velvet, and satin — or a combination of the three — the collection is a premium assortment that aligns with a royal sentiment. It also champions the style of New York City, often considered the best in the States and beyond.

Gold, black and white colorways orbit reinforced Swoosh branding with a mini Swoosh in secondary position at the quarter panel. ‘Nike QNS’ hits the heel of each shoe in ode to Sylvester’s home borough.

Nigel, with this upcoming collection and his masterful Air Jordan 1, has quickly become a force. Alongside the likes of Skepta — who’s also fortified himself in sneaker culture with three wins and zero losses — Sylvester is now way up in the wins column with no L’s to speak of.

Nigel’s Air Force 1 iD collection will launch at a pop-up at Nike’s 45 Grand studio in NYC starting on October 11 and running through October 13. Colors and materials from the pairs seen here will also be made available online October 11.
