Nolan Zangass, better known as @night.shift on Instagram, is part of a new generation of urban photographers honing their craft in the digital age. Enabled by a global community created by social media platforms, these photographers are able to showcase, share and exchange their work with like-minded creatives around the world. But pulling out a smartphone for a few snaps and some preset filters is far different than having a comprehensive understanding of lighting, composition and the studied nuances of photography. Nolan is one of the few that understands both sides of the new photo frontier — evidenced by a portfolio of moody shots that emphasize vivid color and emotion in his surroundings.
