Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield and Bruce Kilgore back in 1991, the Nike Air 180 was all about that chunky, tech-forward aesthetic that defined the early ’90s running scene.
Fast forward to today, the Swoosh is now prepping an Air 180 dipped in “Baltic Blue”, which is a fresh take on the classic that will no doubt get heads turning. Serving up OG vibes, the titular Baltic Blue serves as both anchor and accent. It adorns the chunky midsole, wrapping around to create that iconic Air window, while also gracing the heel counter.
But it’s in the details where this release truly sings. The black suede overlays add depth and texture, their inky darkness a perfect foil for the shoe’s brighter elements. A hit of vibrant yellow on the tongue’s Air 180 branding and profile Swooshes inject a jolt of energy, reminiscent of the original’s bold character. The ribbed neoprene tongue and collar, a hallmark of early ’90s runners, offers both comfort and a tactile nod to the shoe’s performance roots. Underfoot is a full-length Phylon midsole coupled with the substantial Air unit.
Mark your calendars as the Nike Air 180 “Baltic Blue” will be released in Fall 2024 via Nike.com and select retailers for $150. Keep it locked to our Sneaker Release Dates Calendar for updates.
