Ken Griffey Jr. was given his first signature shoe, the Nike Air Griffey Max 1, for the 1996 season, but the year prior came one of the greatest moments in his career. During the 1995 season, Ken Griffey Jr. and several other premier Nike athletes wore the Nike Air Diamond Fury in the big leagues, but Griffey was given a special colorway of “Mariner Emerald” complete with his number stitched to the side and an unmistakeable “JR” logo hit on the tongue. With the recent success of the Air Griffey Max 1, Swingman Remix, and other Griffey shoes, can’t say that I would complain if these made their way out of retirement.
UPDATE: We have just received word that there will be a Nike Air Diamond Fury 2015 retro for the shoe’s 20th anniversary.
