Nike’s annual Chinese New Year collection will begin its release cycle later this week. And of the many great styles that encompass this wide assortment of sneakers, largely the most unusual is the resurgence of the Air Flightposite.
First introduced in the Chinese New Year collection in 2014 via its laceless Flightposite Exposed, the proper silhouette appears for the Year of the Pig in transitional pink and purple with expressive geometric shaping. Two hands interlocked are seen at the tongue, an expression often used to signify celebration of the New Year.
Look for the Nike Air Flightposite “Chinese New Year” in China on January 10. US release details remain forthcoming.
UPDATE 1/9: Jas Xue of Hypebeast has delivered a closer look at this celebratory sneaker.
