Nike and the Oregon Health and Sciences University Doernbecher Children’s Hospital are teaming up for their annual Freestyle Collection which is now in its 18th year and gives six OHSU Doernbecher patients to help design and create footwear and apparel that are auctioned off to raise funds for the hospital which has raised nearly $31 million and counting.

After going virtual for the past 3 years, the auction will be held in person with attendees having the opportunity to bid on Freestyle sneakers and apparel, such as the Nike Air Foamposite One designed by Coley Miller.

As a proud member of the Klamath Tribes, Coley Miller found plenty of design inspiration within her culture. Her retro hoop shoe features a basket weave graphic that incorporates a quail plume and the Klamath mountains which are seen on the lace overlays. The Posite upper features night sky graphics inspired by stargazing with her mother, who donated one of her kidneys to Coley. Coley’s name is co-branded alongside the Swoosh on the tongue with basketballs printed on the pulltabs on the tongue and heel. As for the phrase “ho mas gi” on the outsole, that’s a reminder to Just Do It in Coley’s Klamath language.
