Is this the first time you’ve heard the term “Akronite?” If so, assumably you missed Nike Basketball’s new commercial featuring LeBron James. In the clip, a prolific young poet refers to the King as an Akronite, which just so happens to be the crowning moniker for his latest shoe.
As interesting a shoe as the name chosen to describe it, the Nike Air LeBron Akronite incorporates a wildly alluring juxtaposition of past Swoosh releases. The Nike Air Tech Challenge II midsole is present, 2012’s All-Star themed “Galaxy” Pack markings are noted, as well as patchwork updates previously seen in reinvorgated Air Max releases. Moreover, design cues from James’ signature line are also accompanying – like the top strap seen in the prominent Solider renditions.
Releasing on October 15 and for now, exclusive to kids, give the Nike Air LeBron Akronite an official look below and stay tuned for more on this innovative new silhouette.
