Nike hasn’t left any stone unturned with it comes to inspiration. From paying homage to various food and beverages to cartoon characters amongst many, the Beaverton mainstay now turns its sights to the sport of Mexican wrestling.
To pay homage to the 150-year-old-tradition, this forthcoming Nike Air Max 90 “Lucha Libre” sports a white and black mismatched outfit comprised of a mesh base, patent leather overlays, midsoles, Air cassette units, liners, laces, and insoles.
To further celebrate the sport the two different fighting styles, “Los Rudos” meaning “The Rude” (the Bad Guys) and “Los Technicos” meaning “The Technical”, are embellished on the lateral mudguards. Rounding out the final design cues are gradient tongue tabs and insoles, while the sneaker’s namesake, “Lucha Libre” is printed on the latter.
Interested readers will be able to pick up the Nike Air Max 90 “Lucha Libre” when they release in the upcoming weeks via select retailers and Nike.com. Keep it locked here for a specific drop date and pricing info when they surface.
