Continuing a vignette that surrounds soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, Nike is readying another release of the Air Max 97 “CR7” edition.

The patchwork styled shoe touches on Ronaldo’s humble beginnings when he only owned two pairs of sneakers: one for school and another to play soccer. The two would often blend together, leaving both battered and bruised. His mother would lovingly sew patches on the shoes to keep them intact and for young Ronaldo to return to the pitch.
