Before Cristiano Ronaldo was a world-class soccer star and modern-day sporting hero, he was just a kid who loved sneakers and playing outside in them. The former didn’t come in large supply either. Like many of us, he had only two pairs – one for school and one for play. His “play shoes” were essentially his soccer shoes, and he wore them so much he put holes in them.
His mother, in turn, would sew those holes up with patches, giving the pair more life than her son’s rigorous activities had previously allowed. Nike today gives Ronaldo his very own Air Max 97, patched up and dipped in gold for both sentiment and effect.
The Nike Air Max 97 CR7 will be available on October 23 exclusively on Nike SNKRS in Western Europe.
