Although it’s widely assumed that much of the heat within the densely populated Swoosh vault has already re-released in some form or another, the Beaverton-based brand isn’t nearly done with unearthed retro gems. Much of this, of course, is dependent on the sheer number of sneakers that have released in the years and decades past. In addition, retros are best served when the cultural climate aligns with said shoe.

The current temperature seems ripe for a return of the Nike Air Max2 Light.

First released back in 1994 as a successor to the Air Max Light original in 1989, the silhouette was widely adored for its shapely frame and the vibrancy in its colorways. Lightweight materials made the sneaker a runner’s delight while the progressive panel upper set course for its dual-pressure chamber heel and formidable forefoot Air.

Nike’s Air Max2 Light is set to make a timely return sometime in 2019.

Update 12/14: After an announcement of a forthcoming retro back in spring, retailers such as Urban Industry are confirming stock of the widely anticipated Nike Air Max2 Light for early January. This Light University Gold/Flash Crimson-Racer Blue iteration will release on January 3 with more colorways to follow shortly thereafter.

Update 1/4: The Nike Air Max2 Light is set to release on January 11 at select retailers including Overkill.

Update 1/14: The OG Nike Air Max 2 Light is back. Pairs of the original Light University Crimson colorway are available now at size?.
