In what has been a monumental 20th anniversary for the Nike Air Max 97 and a breakout year for the Air VaporMax, 2017 was also a year when Nike visibly adopted the sole-swap mentality. Next year the Swoosh will take even greater strides forward, starting with this Nike Air VaporMax 97.

A hybrid of the highest order, the model highlights an Air Max 97 upper – seen here in beige – with translucent VaporMax tooling below. Now if this design seems familiar it’s because we’ve kind of seen it before, back in March, as a part of Nike’s Vote Forward campaign. Designer Artemy Lebedev and Creative Director Bunyamin Aydin showcased a creation similar to this one and it seems, at least in part, that their progressive idea sparked this upcoming release.

This Nike Air VaporMax 97 is reported to release next year.
