The “Black and Tan” Nike SB Dunk Low’s nickname is one that has garnered a lot of attention the past few days. The nickname, which was originally given to this Dunk by multiple sources in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, is also the name of a 1920’s British paramilitary group that became notorious for attacks on Irish civilian populations. According to Yahoo, Nike has since apologized for the nickname, but reiterated that they had no hand in the creation of the “Black & Tan” nickname for this shoe.
