The next time Kobe Bryant steps foot on the Staples Center floor it will be his last as a player. Take a moment and let that sink in. For the last 20 years, Bryant has defined with it means to be a competitor, a winner and of course, a Laker.
Starting today, over 200+ Nike-sponsored athletes will celebrate Mamba Day in honor of his storied career and departure from the game to which he’s given so much. The athletes will wear black and gold shoes as a metaphoric nod to the Black Mamba.
The global tribute will continue through April 13 where Bryant will compete in his final NBA game. Check out the video below for more and be on the lookout for tributes from athletes like Sanya Richards-Ross, Russell Wilson, Kyrie Irving, Natalie Achonwa, Odell Beckham Jr., Paul George, Eric Koston and Kevin Durant.
