The immediate success of Nike’s Adapt BB has seemingly fast-tracked additional auto-lacing sneakers according to Nike CEO, Mark Parker.
During the company’s third-quarter earnings call this week, Parker detailed exciting news across the board. He revealed that the Nike Freak 1, Giannis Antetokounmpo first signature sneaker, would be seen for the first time during the 2019 NBA Playoffs. Parker, too, spoke of new auto-lacing silhouettes to come.
“Building off the successful adaptive basketball launch this quarter, we’ll expand the platform into new categories and embed the Adapt technology even further into our digital eco-system,” Parker stated.
This could be a reference to more basketball-focused sneakers, runners, trainers, or newness in another sporting category.
Parker didn’t go into much detail beyond the aforementioned statement, yet it appears the success of the Adapt BB was more than enough to push more self-lacing sneaker into the fray, and quickly. Stay tuned for additional information.
