This May, Nike has a special treat for sneaker fans as the Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump” is set to re-release in a brand-new deluxe version.
Originally launched in 1972, the Nike Cortez has since become one of the most iconic and well-loved models to date. In 1994, the Cortez garnered even more limelight after being featured in Tom Hanks’s Forrest Gump. In the memorable scene, Jenny Curran gifts Forrest a pair of Cortezs before his remarkable run.
Following another comeback in 2022 for its 50th anniversary, the Nike Cortez will no doubt take the spotlight once again as the Swoosh is bringing back the beloved Forrest Gump colorway.
The Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump” initially debuted in 2018 boasting a white leather base accented with cherry red Swooshes, heels, and “Nike Air” branding on the tongues and insoles. Hits of blue have also been placed on the midsole with a subtle gradient. For the final luxe details, silver lace dubraes with mini Swooshes elevate the pair’s overall design cues.
The Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump” will released on May 8 via Nike.com for $110. Keep it locked to our Sneaker Release Dates Calendar for updates.
