Nike’s first modern running sneaker, the Nike Cortez was worn by the brand’s top sprinters. Slowly, the sneaker’s popularity would transition from the track to the street, largely due to its emerging popularity on the West Coast. Through cities like Los Angeles, the low-profile runner would be one of the recognizable sneakers to ever release. In homage to the City of Angels, the Nike Cortez is prepared to release in an “L.A.” colorway.
This iteration of the iconic Nike sneaker is seen in its classic white leather upper. However, features of blue are seen streaking across the Swoosh logo and sock liner. In bright red cursive lettering, the words “Los Angeles” are seen overlaying the entire mid-panel. With additional LA branding seen on the tongue, the sneaker boldly celebrates the famed entertainment capital.
Look for the Nike Cortez “Los Angeles” to release in the near future at Nike.com and other select retailers. Until then, enjoy the official photos presented and let us know what you think by tagging @nicekicks on social media.
