After being canceled last year due to COVID-19, Nike‘s Elite Youth Basketball League or EYBL is back in full swing for the 2021 season. With the Nike Zoom Kobe VI Protro EYBL expected to be on the feet of most elite basketball prospects this summer, the Nike Cosmic Unity will also be alongside.
Originally showcased by A’ja Wilson and Anthony Davis and is the first performance sneaker in Nike’s Move to Zero initiative, the EYBL rendition is dressed in an all-black multilayered textile upper with a green and blue marbled Swoosh on the lateral side. The black midsole is comprised of Crater Foam, made of proprietary foams and Nike Grind Rubber, and reduces the weight of the sneaker. The EYBL logo is utilized on the right shoe’s tongue with Nike’s Cosmic Unity logo on the left. Flywire cabling is used for the lacing in neon green with a heel pulltab to match.
A full-length Zoom Air strobel setup is used, similar to the Nike KD line of recent years for court feel while still having a plush ride, and full-length herringbone is utilized on the outsole for tried and true on-court traction.
Whether the Nike Cosmic Unity “EYBL” will get released to the public or only for EYBL participants is still unknown, but we will surely see these at Nike Peach Jam and other EYBL tournaments this summer. Stay tuned to our Sneaker Release Dates page when we know more.
