Last year, in 2017, the sales gap between Nike and adidas had significantly lessened. Adidas was moving in on Nike and its subsidiaries, including and especially Jordan Brand. But in the first quarter of 2018 sales are heavily slanted in Nike’s favor, with many of the top sellers at the end of 2017 for adidas nowhere to be found.

According to data accumulated by Matt Powell of the NPD Group, the ten top-selling sneakers from February through April by dollar sales are all Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse sneakers.

Adidas, who had great success from models like the Superstar and Tubular Shadow last year, saw sales from those two model drop off substantially. Nike, however, shines thanks to budget-friendly and widely available styles like the Tanjun, which ranks as the highest-selling sneaker of the quarter. Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 11 Low “Cool Grey” holds second position while the beloved Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ranks third.

Surprisingly, considering the shoe only debuted at retail in March, Nike’s Air Max 270 is the fourth best-selling sneaker of the first quarter. Converse, a Nike subsidiary, sees its Chuck Taylor All Star Low crack the list at sixth.

One might think that the adidas Yeezy collection would certainly find placement on the list considering the collection’s popularity. Yet given the limited number of pairs produced, the scale simply isn’t larger enough to compete on this much wider playing field.

Adidas is however widely represented in the world of soccer. They now outfit more World Cup teams than Nike. Peep the top ten list below.
