Where to buy the Nike Dunk Low "Doernbecher"
This Nike Dunk Low “Doernbecher” is one in a million as Zoe Taaffe gets inspired by the University of Oregon Ducks. The Oregon native was admitted to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital after experiencing complications like random swelling, coughing, rashes, and a fever. It was discovered that Taaffe had a rare autoimmune disease which led to intense treatments like blood and plasma transfusions, steroids, and chemotherapy. After experiencing exceptional care from the Doernbecher team, Taaffe has become inspired to pursue a career in nursing.
For Taaffe’s Nike Dunk Low, she honors her favorite team, the Oregon Ducks. Using shades of bright green and yellow, the sneaker stands out as “One In A Million,” which is printed on the side of the white Nike Swoosh. The lateral quarters are crafted with bright yellow, while the eyestays get dressed in green leather. The toebox is made with white leather that is accented with what looks to be zebra print, but is actually a custom pattern that is made to mimic stretch marks that were caused by the steroid treatment. Taaffe’s first name is also slyly imprinted in the pattern, as “Zoe” appears in between the lines. The insoles are inverted between yellow and green, each marked with a nursing symbol. Finishing details include white laces, “Fearless Zoe” aglets, interchangeable Swooshes, a white midsole, and glittery translucent outsole that glows in the dark.
