Words of inspiration etch the Nike Dunk Low “Doernbecher”. Designed in 2007 by Lance Dillon during chemotherapy treatment, this Doernbecher design sees help from Nike’s Mark Smith in the form of laser detailing. The model features a mix of black and green leather with lasered text appearing in all-over fashion.
Now 24-years old with a degree in anthropology from Oregon State, Lance reflects favorably on his experience designing his “Doernbecher” Dunks. “Getting to work with the Nike staff and design my own shoe are things that I will always remember. But the greatest part of it was knowing that it was helping other kids that were going through the same things that I went through.”
The Nike Dunk Low “Doernbecher” is scheduled to re-release on August 31st at Nike.com and at NIKETOWN New York, Nike Georgetown, Nike Chicago, Nike Roosevelt Field, Nike Portland, Nike San Francisco, Nike Dallas, NIKETOWN Los Angeles, Nike Lenox and Nike Las Vegas. The shoes will retail for $85 with all proceeds benefiting Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation and the young patients who need it most.
