As one of the most elusive roles at Nike, the EKINs remain one of the most fascinating parts of the brand’s business structure. EKINs (Nike spelled backwards) are an exclusive group of Nike employees that provide education to retailers and consumers about all things Nike. From product knowledge to brand history, EKINs know everything there is to know about the global sportswear brand. Being that EKINs play a vital role in helping to shape and maintain Nike’s brand presence, the EKINs are often treated to exclusive sneakers such as this Nike Bruin Low.
Shared by Brint Benson, Nike’s Marketing Performance Specialist, this EKIN-exclusive Nike Bruin Low has a fiery orange upper with a chili pepper Swoosh located at the forefoot. It seems that the sneaker also comes with a small bottle of hot sauce, which is a nod to the EKIN history that began in 1981. Co-founder Phil Knight described the EKIN role as Nike’s “secret sauce,” which brings the hot sauce and chili-pepper themes full circle. The shoelaces even have a small motif that reads, “Bringing the heat since 1981.”
