Will history repeat itself? In 1995, Tinker Hatfield helped Michael Jordan?s comeback to the hardwood with the ever-iconic Air Jordan 11. The shoe went on to be a major success on court sparking a 72-10 season and in stores selling out worldwide. Today we see his brother Tobie?s effort on this Nike Free Golf Shoe Prototype for Tiger Woods. Woods will return to the game he loves tomorrow for the first time in three months in this new model.
Woods, who is a proponent of Nike Free during his well-documented training regimen, proposed to Tobie the idea taking the tech to the course. Coming off injuries to his left knee and Achilles tendon, the adaptation of Nike Free is intended to give Woods greater stability when addressing the ball all while allowing power to disperse through his swing rather than body. The latter is a byproduct of natural motion technology minimizing static feet.
While Free is a first in golf, it?s not the only tech highlight on this Woods makeup. A polyurethane coated stretch fabric likens the prototype to the Hyperfuse 2011 while a half heel counter adds stability similar to that of the Zoom Kobe VI. Flywire is attached to each lace loop while recycled Air Max units melted into thread wrap the heel.
With release information undisclosed, you can catch them on Woods tomorrow at WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
