2000’s

Nike Hyperfuse 2010

The 2000’s returned to the 1970’s idea that “less is more”. With synthetic materials now being used on most uppers, the Nike Hyperdunk introduced the all-new, lightweight Flywire technology at the Beijing Olympics. The technology was birthed from the idea of stripping unnecessary material away to create a lighter shoe with the same foot security. Two years later, the lightweight idea was taken a step further with the invention of Hyperfuse material on the Nike Hyperfuse. That lightweight synthetic material has now supplanted canvas, suede, and leather as the composition of choice for performance basketball sneakers.
