Ja Morant’s game is all about speed, bounce, and breaking ankles, so when Nike released his first signature sneaker, the Ja 1, it was clear the bar was set high. But with the Nike Ja 2, the Swoosh raised that bar even higher.
Morant’s second signature shoe is tailor-made for players who demand explosive bounce, control, and all-around support to keep up with their fast, elusive game.
“From the Ja 1 to the Ja 2, the core things remain the same. The work ethic doesn’t change,” Morant said via a press release. “It’s about comfort, more bounce, and bringing my fans into some different storytelling they may not know. We tell those stories through the colorways of my shoe.”
The Ja 2 is a complete upgrade from the fan-favorite Ja 1. Featuring a forefoot Air Zoom unit, his sophomore shoe delivers that extra bounce Ja needs to take flight, while a molded midfoot panel locks you down when it’s time to drop defenders and go for that fast break. Nike even took inspiration from Ja’s childhood, incorporating an underfoot traction pattern modeled after semitrailer tires to let you cut through defenders like you’re on a dirt road to the hoop.
What sets the Nike Ja 2 apart is the attention to detail. Sidewall guardrails give that extra stability for unexpected takeoffs, while a waterfall-inspired collar lining and padded ankle support keep you comfy, no matter how high you fly. Its breathable ballistic mesh upper is engineered for Morant’s signature grit & grind playstyle.
The Nike Ja 2 retail journey begins on September 26, 2024, via SNKRS with a wider release on October 8, 2024, via select retailers.
