The Nike Ja 2 Ignites in “Pre-Heat”

In 2019, Ja Morant was drafted second overall and became one of the youngest players to receive a signature shoe. As Morant continues his meteoric rise in the NBA, Nike is readying a brand new colorway for his sophomore signature. Boasting a “Pre-Heat” outfit, this iteration embodies both his electrifying playstyle and distinctive flair on the court.

The Ja 2 silhouette itself is a study in modern basketball shoe design. Soft lavender covers the mesh tongues, while the icy blue full-length TPU sidewalls ground the rest of the silhouette. This ethereal colorway is punctuated by abstract, lightning-like patterns – a nod to Ja’s nickname “The Dark Knight” and his reputation for thunderous plays. Lastly, “Midnight Series” appears on the medial heels. 

Learning from the Ja 1, Nike’s design team has fine-tuned every aspect for enhanced on-court performance. The low-profile cut allows for quick cuts and explosive movements, while the forefoot Zoom Air unit provides responsive cushioning for those gravity-defying leaps Morant is known for.
