The ads follow after Durant called out Nike for not being in the brand’s original Olympic ad.

After becoming USA Basketball’s all-time leading scorer, Nike honored the Suns forward with an entire campaign.

But the question remains: is Kevin Durant a bad person?

That was the thought-provoking question Durant posed on his Instagram story after he was subbed from Nike’s “Winning Isn’t For Everyone” campaign for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which included LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Wembanyama, A’Ja Wilson, Sha’Carri Richardson, Sophia Smith, Kylian Mbappé, and other elite Nike athletes participating in the Summer Games.

Durant’s words were a rip on the campaign’s opening line “Am I a bad person?”, narrated by Willem Dafoe, as he reminded the brand that he’s been with them “every step of the way” including the last two Olympics.

Durant, who is on his 17th signature shoe in the Nike KD 17, is undoubtedly one of the best ever to play the game and a modern face for the Swoosh. Like Durant, many were perplexed by his omission of the campaign.

As the dust settled, Durant stayed the course and reminded everyone that he’s one of the best in the game, regardless of whether he’s a “bad person.”

On August 6, Durant became USA Basketball’s all-time leading scorer with 489 points, passing the legendary Lisa Leslie.

To celebrate the legendary moment, Nike followed up with an ad narrated by Deion Sanders and a series of billboards claiming that he’s the baddest — not a bad person.

Let’s see what else Nike has lined up throughout the rest of the Olympics and ahead of the upcoming NBA season.
