When Kyrie Irving was only 17 years old, playing at the Nike Extravaganza in California, he was already aware of a unique kinship he shared with Kobe Bryant. During that event years ago, Irving laced up the Nike Zoom Kobe V “Bruce Lee.” Irving today pays respect to both Bryant and the Kobe V through commonality and philosophical similarities funneled through the life and times of Bruce Lee.
The Nike Kyrie 3 “Mamba Mentality” is derived on critical elements that modernize the original Kobe V, one of Irving’s all-time favorite sneakers. The yellow and black upper honor Lee’s trademark colors, the slash marks his famed battle wounds, and snakeskin medial siding work in Bryant’s favor while the samurai medial operates as a traditional passing of the torch. Irving and Bryant’s logos are fused at the tongue to evoke a Kyrobe union.
