Paul George joins exclusive company today with the official unveiling of his first signature silhouette, the Nike PG1. Aligning with LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Nike Basketball’s current signature athletes, George now stands among fewer than one percent of Nike athletes over the brand’s 44-year history to receive his own shoe. He’s Nike’s 21st basketball player to receive this honor.
At first look, the Nike PG1 is a stylistic triumph. Taking from the smoothness of George’s personality that mirrors his game, the PG1 is tailored to meet the performance specifications of George’s two-way play.
In collaboration with designer Tony Hardman, Nike and George aimed for simplicity and function courtesy of a forefoot strap harnessed by Flywire cables for lockdown. Forefoot Zoom Air then delivers low-profile, responsive cushioning, while a full-bootie ensures a snug one-to-one fit. The scaly paneling births a unique sartorial element to the hoops model alongside an iridescent Swoosh gleaming at both the siding and heel.
The Nike PG1 will retail for $110, allowing it to easily compete in the ever competitive performance basketball market place. Although, at first inspection, it’s clear buyers will get more bang for their buck with George’s first signature silhouette. Take a closer look below and stay tuned for launch details.
