Although Tom Brady grabbed another MVP trophy and the Packers brought the championship back to Green Bay, the comeback of Michael Vick was one of, if not the biggest story on the field this past year. His play reinvigorated many fans and obviously re-focused the attention of many sponsors and endorsers. According to CNBC, Nike has re-signed the Virgina native after severing ties in 2007 because of the dogfighting incident.
?Michael acknowledges his past mistakes,? said Nike spokesman Derek Kent. ?We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.?
Vick?s longtime agent Joel Segal stated that, ?Michael is excited to have a long-term and strong relationship with Nike.?
If you recall, speculation of Michael Vick and Nike joining forces again surfaced in the fall of 2009 seeing that he was spotted multiple times in public and official workouts rocking Nike product.
No official details have been released in regards to Vick’s new Nike contract, however, one thing to take note of is that the brand will become the official apparel supplier in April 2012. How do you feel about Vick and Nike coming together again? With Nike becoming the official apparel supplier in April 2012, do you see them doing big things with Vick going into next season?
