2019 was the year SB Dunks came back from a mainstream standpoint, but Day 1 fans will tell you they never left. Appealing to the OGs and newcomers alike is the Nike SB Dunk Low “Rayguns Tie-Dye” which is deep with story.
Redressing the famed fat-tongue Dunk Lows from 2005 in both white and black, tie-dye mid foot and heel paneling replaces that of orange and yellow leather as an homage to the late, great Sandy Bodecker who was instrumental in building Nike SB from the ground up.
For a quick history lesson, the Roswell Rayguns were a fictional franchise seen in Nike Basketball spots around the early 2000s.
Just as Nike SB borrowed the Dunk from the hoops category, they borrowed the Rayguns too by putting out a collection of apparel and kicks that featured the alien inspiration.
Bodecker was well known around Nike Campus for rocking the Nike SB Rayguns hoody in tie-dye fashion, thus inspiring this tribute.
Current reports peg the Nike SB Dunk Low Rayguns Tie-Dye to release on December 27th on SNKRS and at select SB accounts.
Keep it locked to Nice Kicks for updates and peep a closer look below from SNS and US11.
