Renowned contemporary artist Tom Sachs is teaming up with Nike again to bring back the Mars Yard. The new version of the shoe is simply called the Nike Mars Yard 2.0.
The original version of the Mars Yard was designed with NASA mechanical engineer Tommaso Rivellini in mind. Rivellini is well-known for inventing the airbags for the Mars rovers. Sachs actually used materials from those same airbags to construct the original Mars Yard. These materials are also featured in the Nike Mars Yard 2.0.
The NikeCraft Mars Yard 2.0 will retail for $200 and will be released on June 8th on NikeCraft.com during the much anticipated Nike Space Camp event.
