Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton is big, but it’s better bigger thanks to a newly approved expansion plan.
Nike plans to add over 1.349 million square feet of office space and two new parking structures to make space for 3,700 more employees as the company continues to grow at an incredible pace. To put things into perspective, the current square footage of office space within the berm at Nike Campus is sitting at 2.2 million square feet essentially expanding its office space by more than 60%.
The expansion does come with a few conditions including major road improvements and expansion within the area so the streets can handle the estimated extra 2,000 vehicles that will be making their way to the newly expanded world HQ.
The Washington County’s land use and transportation department mailed its decision to allow the expansion of Nike’s World Headquarters yesterday to nearby property owners of the development site and emailed the decision Thursday to select members of the media including Allan Brettman of The Oregonian.
While the construction traffic and improvement projects can be an inconvenience for some locals, the thought of 3,700 new employees mean more people moving into the area further driving up property values and improving the Beaverton and Portland economies.
