Luxury looks better with a tan. That’s why LA-based sneaker label No. One’s latest collection known as the Vachetta Edition incorporates elegant vegetable tanned leathers on their Bravo and Charlie silhouettes.
Using a system called “Concia in Fossa,” these leathers are first sourced in France and then hand produced in Tuscany with special techniques that integrate animal fats and natural tannins from the Quercia tree, producing the leather’s unique appearance.
This method of tanning dates back to ancient times and involves the raw hides to be submerged in tanks that consist of tannin solutions for thirty days, thus ensuring the look of each leather is always different from another. Unlike most other leather tanning processes, Vachetta leather is free of any preservatives, which creates the natural caramelized patina that’s caused through wear, sunlight, and other varied environments.
Each silhouette will take on its own character over time that’s unique to the wearer, which will eventually tell their own unique story throughout the aging process.
The No. One Bravo and Charlie “Vachetta Edition” is now available at No. One’s LA studio and online.
