Although a small population has expressed fatigue regarding Virgil Abloh’s ongoing “The Ten” collaborative series with Nike, an offering that began last year and continues into the latter months of 2018, you’d be hard pressed to find a pair that hasn’t sold out almost instantly.
Abloh’s initial release featured an Air Max 97 during the silhouette’s 20th anniversary. Now, a year removed from said glory, two more collaborative pairs will land in stores later this holiday season. An official look at the black pair finds us today.
Releasing alongside its “Menta” counterpart this November, this noir focused pair is the most simplistic of the trio dating back to last year’s pair. Simplistic may not often be an opportune word to describe Virgil’s sneakers yet here it’s rather fitting. With a large white Swoosh at the medial paneling and “AIR” stamped at the heel, the shoe is punctuated with its signature zip tie in grey — differing from the traditional red iteration.
A hard release date for the Off White x Nike Air Max 97 “Black” has not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned for more.
Update 10/17: Virgil Abloh’s Off White x Nike Air Max 97 Black/Cone will release tomorrow on Nike SNKRS The Draw. The pair will drop at 10 am EDT.
