We’ve seen “The 10,” but those that follow Virgil Abloh and his compadres on social know that collection hosted only one of the Air Forces he created. One of three to be specific (unless you count the one-off Art Basel pairs). Today, the second of the batch is vindicated with a release date.
The Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Low ComplexCon Exclusive is exactly what it sounds like, an energy launch for Nike’s new AF1 campaign taking place at the Long Beach convention that’s quickly become a hot spot for both culture and consumption.
“It’s all one expression,” says Virgil on his work with Nike. “It’s the Off-White ideology of altering product. That’s my brand and my way of making things. I like to start with something established and then iterate on a process to edit it.”
While this pair is coming soon, maybe the black pair sported by Virgil and Ian Connor is dropping, too? “What I love about the three Air Force 1s I’ve worked on with Nike, so far, they encompass one idea executed in three different ways,” reflects Abloh. “With this one, the colorway is important. The Air Force 1 isn’t iconic in just any color, they’re iconic in one: white. White is the theme for this third Air Force 1, looking at the cultural context of the white on white — editing it, but not editing it too far to where it becomes something else.”
To get the white and silver Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Low debuted by Kevin Durant and LeBron James in the 2017 NBA Finals, you’ll have to be a t ComplexCon. Look for these to launch their exclusively on November 4th.
