Tennis superstar Roger Federer has finally been given his first signature sneaker.
Returning to the tennis court after a thirteen-month hiatus, the “Swiss Maestro” is continuing to build his clothing and footwear partnerships. Already with Uniqlo for his on-court apparel, Federer partnered with On in 2019 to work on this monumental moment.
No longer sporting Nike silhouettes, the Swiss tennis player will play in his signature sneaker for upcoming professional tennis matches. Federer’s “THE ROGER Pro” is a remagination of On’s signature performance running silhouettes, combining both the brand’s comfortability with structural elements suited for tennis’ side-to-side movements. In its OG iteration, THE ROGER Pro is set to arrive in a white and blue color pallet with a “R” logo featured on the lace keeper and a mini-Swiss flag on the heel.
Perhaps the most significant technical detail to the silhouette is the implementation of a Speedboard® tech placed between the midsole and upper. Used in On’s running silhouettes, this carbon-fiber plate adds responsiveness and impact return, ensuring an ease of lateral movements.
“Tennis players put up to three times their body weight through a shoe during lateral movements,” says Olivier Bernhard, On’s co-founder and Innovation Leader. “These high forces demand extreme agility and stability. That’s what we worked with Roger to create. After so many years at the top of world sport, Roger has his sense of what performance should feel like completely dialed in. He can sense every small adjustment. [His] insight guided the whole project.”

Before, THE ROGER Pro was available exclusively for Federer’s on-court play. It debuted in his Qatar Open match against Britain’s Daniel Evans, and it was wondered whether we would ever be seeing a public release. Now, the silhouette is finally out, exclusively releasing through Kith.com. Head on over to the website to cop a pair now.
