You can expect to see a plethora of unique, innovative designs from the ongoing Made of Japan global campaign this year. With that said, Onitsuka Tiger will launch ‘Hidden Tiger’, a campaign that reveals cool, peculiar things about the Japanese heritage. For example, here we have photos of a giant shoe model inspired by Tansu, a Japanese woodworking tradition. This Trainer incorporates all of Tansu’s elements including second-to-none carpentry, ironwork and carpentry. Amazingly, this wood design uses no nails; instead, the craftsmen use their own body weight and movement to eliminate unneeded wood to give the drawers a measurable fit. As for the drawers, they were originally used to conceal kimonos, medicinal herbs and swords in addition to other items. This giant shoe sculpture will be on tour throughout 2010 in various places throughout the world. Click here to view additional photos. |
